"* September 3, 1929: The Dow reaches a record high of 381.17, just seven weeks before Black Friday began nearly 20 years of poverty and horror to America.

    * August 17, 1987: Another record high, 2700.57, two months before the October 19 crash that wiped out 23% of the Dow’s value and ensured a single term for Bush 41.

    * March 10, 2000: The NASDAQ hits a record 5132.52, beginning a long and devastating bloodletting that would only reach bottom in October 2002, when the technology index sank to 1,108.49 — a 78.4% decline in 18 months.

In other words, dramatic record highs are often a good indication that something’s about to give."

    My comment:

Since the Dow rewached a record nominal high in 2007 we all know it has crashed. Of course all the mainstream media and those in power told us that sub prime wasn't an issue. That it was well contained. We now know they were either ignorant of the severity of the real situation, just plain stupid or outright lying.

We have possibly had the worst developed world financial crisis in history, and news from the USA continues to be ugly. Some argue that the USA is itself bordering on insolvency.

Just a thought. Is it possible that we could be having another "nearly 20 years of poverty and horror" for the USA.

After all so many optimistic people (Are they only believing and seeing what they want to see and believe?) will tell me that "Happy days are just about here again. That all those "green shoots" are going to thrive and grow instead of withering away.

So how silly of me to even raise the above?

I mean I want the Dow to go to new record highs. So does everyone else. We'd all give a thumbs up to that!
