BTW - apparently the USA Treasury is having significant issues selling bonds (ie bond durations over 1 year) such that their plans are to sell 80% of debt issued as treasury bills ie less than 1 year duration - they are planning to issue $US10tr in debt this year (total debt is now almost 35tr so Treasury need to issue a very large amount of new debt and will need to continue to do so going forward with such a large proportion being sold less than 1 yr duration.

There is a lack of demand for bond durations over 1 year and issues in the last year have resulted in the Treasury having to pay a higher yield or premium above what the targeted.

Have listened to a few podcasts about this issue - it seems to be a well known issue.

Also been reading about about past periods of high inflation and selling a lot of debt with durations less than 1 year is a of further problems coming in future ie a bit of a red flag eg treasury losing control if debt and inflation leading to more money printing.
