I'm damned if I know what's going to come out on Sunday and I'm damned if I know how this will impact ESG and CSG.

The great trainstoppers in Canberra will announce their big new money-go-round. The worry is they've buggered everything up so far, so why will this be different?

The question for ESG and the CSG industry is; where has the compromise been made?

Its clear that Martin Ferguson has been very active in the carbon negotiations and we all know he's been a tremendous advocate for Australian CSG and LNG projects.

My guess is that the Labour has fought hard to ensure the LNG projects in WA and Queensland are not negatively impacted.

In Queensland, this Federal Labour government is shoulder to the wheel with the CSG to LNG players and is counting on their fiscal contribution to push them over the budget line in 2012-2013.

Threaten the LNG projects with an additional tax burden and Canberra can forget about the several billion dollars in GST, PAYG etc. Every billion counts.

Having said that and mindful of Labour political standing in Queensland, its hard to imagine that even the trainstoppers will do anything to put Queenslanders off-side by threatening jobs from the burgeoning coal and CSG industries.

What have the Greens won out of this. I expect all sorts of programs such as renewable infrastructure funds and research programs focused on algae, wind farms and the like.

As Nervous has pointed out, the irony of this whole schamozzle is incredible. I hope ESG and CSG are beneficiaries.

PS 1. ERM sold their interest in the Braemer power station to Arrow recently. What do they need capital for?

PS 2. A bit of cynical speculation.

The world is about to enter a new world of environmental catastrophe as science becomes the recipient of untold billions in research grants.

    What can we expect?

Algal blooms of untold proportion, decimation of bird populations as the wind farms play one hit bird badminton, soil degredation from bio-fuel production, rivers and oceans filling with fertilisers from our beloved environmentalist farmers.

A brave new world renewable world lead by the scientists.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. God save us from Bob and his merry band of crackpots.
