To clarify:
You are entitled to keep you franking credits with no minimum share holding period if your entire franking credits for the year are less than $5,000.
If you have more than $5,000 franking credits received in any financial year you are required to hold the shares for 45 days + acquisition + disposal days (unless they are preference shares in which case it is 90 days).
