Thats was funny, however he was a bit sneaky in that he didnt mention the apps are 'free' for those that resist paying. You can wait for your free chips each day and just play a few minutes...
It is a healthy reminder that with virtually zero regulation, as to min % return or spin speed, it is ripe for a Gov to step in at some point.
The whole 'freemium' games sector is pretty much the same. Some use fantasy RPG themes, others use puzzles and others slot games, the idea to get people invested and hooked is the same across the board.
maybe in the future the app stores will be regulated more to enable people to self exclude and/or put limits on daily purchases etc. It's likely to still be very profitable, once players are monetised and start feeling that sunk cost effect, hard to regulate against that...
