Just googled standard brick is 76mm high , 230mm wide and 110 mm thick.Face area 76×230=17480mm2. Add 10mm for mortar 86× 240 = 20640mm2 Block 390 wide , 230 high , 90mm thick (thinner than brick?).Face area 390×230=89700mm2 Therefore block is equal to 89700 / 17480 = 5.13 SBE. or with mortar 89700/20640=4.3 SBE . Maybe it is what was allowed for mortar thickness re discrepancy? Hopefully 109+ can do bigger ,thicker blocks for single leaf construction.You would think FBR would take risk on their own houses.
