    it'll be multifactorial, and will probably take years to find out.

    I can think of many things.

    Covid
    Long Covid (of which there's a heap)
    WET WEATHER on the East Coast (that would create an enormous problem)
    Homelessness
    Health system issues (ambulance ramping) people getting taxis to hosp.
    Heating costs, people just not affording power.
    Marital breakups due to lockdowns, wet weather - creates stress - stress brings poor health
    medicine shortages - an article in the last week talking about 100's of items unable to supply


    the wet weather alone has an enormous impact - it restricts people from going out and exercising - exercise is directly related to health.
    so, 2 factors in 1 there - a. you get a LOT less exercise when there's months of rain - and, b. because you aren't using it - you lose it, it's more difficult to get back when lost
