For one to come in the spirit of Elijah is as exactly the same as me accepting and abiding in the ways of Whereu, where I could then say, I come in the spirit of Whereu.
Jesus refers to Elijah did come, yes he did as in the past, OT times and Jesus would suffer similar things and more as He, Elijah did.
