guys, this is the trap we fall into that shapes politics and gives us the situations we are in.

we bring up cases like this - even though they might be one a hundred or one in 20 or one in a thousand.

We all know about cases like this.

Why don't we discuss the cases we see in everyday life of every professional or semi professional we meet who has worked for decades and got their degrees way back when.

It is exactly this sort of thinking and discussion that brings populist political bullshit policy that brings in student loans and university fees.

You had better get your heads around this fast -------- you might not like the odd student who never gets a job,- suck it up princess - because if you don't make education easily available to the bulk of your population - in a very few years this nation will be so bloody poor probably none of us will be able to afford a new iphone.

If you start restricting education. If you start limiting it almost in any way shape or form - you are tinkering with the very thing that has lifted mankind out of the paddocks and into the modern era.

There will ALWAYS be lost causes, there will always be waste. There will always be abuse.

But, to cave in to shallow political populism because someone knows someone who went to uni. for 20 years, never had a real job and never did anything - is not only cutting your own throat - but killing all of us.

What in god's name do you think people want a tertiary education for? Because it's easy! Get a life.

Because they want to sit on their bum's and do nothing? There are wagon loads of easier ways to get a life of doing nothing.

Often people go to Uni, without knowing what they want to do ------------------- that is completely normal.

It is also normal for many to stagger around for a couple of years exploring what is available - and then hone in on something.

If you want a nation of uneducated people who probably can't even dig a ditch - and where there are going to be no jobs anyway, then go right ahead with your sort of thinking.

The end result is going to be that in the not too distant future there may well be pretty close to zero employment. Robots will do it all.

So, what do you want then ----------------- zero education?

Start thinking about an advanced society ------------ can you dream one up with an uneducated populace?
