Hi Captain,
Well done to you...!
No conspiracy theorist here.
I too have plenty of luck, mostly bad...
However my reason for entering VRL many many moons ago was their Shareholder Benefits Program. You probably recall, they previously posted out a booklet with massively discounted entry fees to movies, theme parks and VRL's many attractions. Having a young family at the time and more family on the Gold Coast it was a smart move. With the added bonus of dividends along the way and what will be a 100% capital appreciation (if this deal proceeds), it was a no brainer.
I too was fortunate to buy in the mid $1s and just sat on that for years until the recent CR, which I also participated in. So now the Shareholders Benefits Program is defunct this exit suits me just fine. I doubt very much I have the number of shares you hold, but a profit is a profit.
Unfortunately I also hold Ardent Leisure Group (ALG) for their Shareholders Benefits Program. That has been far less appealing with its returns.
Cheers, Merry Christmas and Good Luck to all VRL holders.
BLJ
