Cougar should have enough cash to keep going until the pilot plant is cleared for re-opening (and unless the panel is unduly influenced by the politicians there's no reason for them not to be cleared).

The problem is that this will all happen again next time there's a trace of benzene detected, even if it's within drinking guidelines and confined to the site itself.

None of the critics, least of all DERM, are concerned with the truth.

I think there are hard times ahead for Cougar but it's not necessarily a company breaker. But it IS time to ditch the plans for the Kingaroy power plant. Keep the pilot plant there to gather technical data, but don't risk the company's future (and those of CNX, LNC and the rest) by perservering with the 400MW plant in the face of hostility from the locals, politicians, DERM and the media all together - that is a fight you just cannot win, even if you are 100% in the right.

So get out of Kingaroy for the commercial plant, in fact get out of Qld altogether, like Linc has done. Cougar's potential is much bigger than just Kingaroy now, and there is no future there.
