I agree this government blows to much money, that 10b stimulus package was a joke for starters. However lets not forget Howard and Costello could never have had the surplus of cash on hand to pay out the sovereign debt, if they were not lucky enough to walk into a economic era that provided tax from the mining boom and tax/stamp duty from the real estate boom. It wasn't just good management, but it was also good luck as well.
