I said claiming a tax loss doesn't affect the rights to the shares, and not that it has no effect on future tax liability.
Holders should also consider the time value of money in terms of CGT paid as a consequence of not claiming, as well as the the fact that tax losses can be carried through indefinitely, when making an assessment of whether or not to claim a tax loss. For me, that assessment is clear.
