That doesn't make my post incorrect, though I thank you for pointing this out to me. What I said still applied in the U.S. only until literally today (it is 1 August here), and still applies in Canada. In some provinces across Canada, Starbucks can legally apply a "subminimum" wage whereby it pays its staff below the minimum wage, and let's customers fill in the blanks.
Starbucks wouldn't have done any of this if it wasn't for these unprecedented labour shortages, and Hamish Douglass wasn't the one calling the CEO of coffee chain to push for better ESG standards on Starbucks' part.
I just find it interesting that Magellan put and continues to put so much money into a company with the social credentials of Starbucks when, at least in Australia, major mandates screen portfolios like Magellan's strategies against various ESG benchmarks.
