I suspect the wireline cable youre talking about came from a Halliburton tool that got stuck inside a well during completion operations...in fact if I recall correctly it was actually a slickline operation but dont quote me on that.

Bayu Undan was a challenging proiject for alot of reasons. It was the first time anyone had done high angle drilling off a platform in the Timor Sea. The hole problems in the Vee Formation could possibly have been pre-empted if theyd cut some geomechanical cores on the first wells but unfortunately the first few wells didnt go in the critical directions/angles so there was no warning of the problems that later manifested themselves. Add in the nightmare of coordinating a live production platform with concurrent drilling operations and you can see what a huge project Bayu Undan was...during commisioning of the CUQ/DPP platforms there were something like 700 people working on the platforms and the Ensco 104 drilling rig.
