One thing is for sure is that the pollies have a very impressive and extensive list of mostly internatnational companies that they can name-drop when talking up the Brown Coal Pilbara.

It is probably a question of which projects are advanced enough in negotiation to present to the media.
as you say BR, the pipeline easement is in situ, they wiil need to have an infrastucture deal in place for the expansion of Port of Hastings. There is rail to Geelong Port for about 3 mtpa bce (nice round number!. And announcing developments/grants for the fasttrack development of DICE (which is effectively being developed in Germany/Japan) is likely as a DICE unit is a straight swap for an old power station boiler, so does not require mining/rail/port infrastucture deals in place.
I agree that the Mantle Minng sp re-rate is waiting on the government announcing the S7 winners and the multi-billion dollar plans. But has the Vic govt been working overtime behind closed doors to get all those deals sorted in time before the govt goes into caretaker status before the election campaign?
