I still have an old telstra number and account from the 90's that I refuse to close, on an old Tradey phone, the old 3g and unbreakeable, can be dropped from the 3rd floor, run over by a car, or dropped into water to I don't remember how many metres and still function.
It costs several $$ per minute if I make a call but $0 if I make no calls. It is also free to anywhere in Australia in 20 minute blocks between 7pm-8pm each night, which I do frequently use. Also, it costs nothing to receive a call.
They wont let me transfer the scheme to a smart phone but they can't close the contract as long as I keep the number, so I have another phone as well.
Every month I get a bill for $0. I keep it just for the pleasure of stiffing Telstra until they finally end the 3g network sometime in the future.
A small but meaningful victory for old grudges. Never forget, never forgive, never give up.
