The pressure on nickel for batteries will be far less than cobalt or lithium for example, as nickel has far more current uses and greater production. However, if a company like WSA were to produce a battery ready high purity nickel sulphate, they could attract premium pricing. Currently they export a sulphide concentrate to China.
The website states:
"The current sales contracts leave the Company with significant amounts of uncommitted product beyond January 2020. This availability is expected to coincide with significant global shortages of quality nickel sulphide product, leaving the Company with flexibility and in a strong position to negotiate future sales agreements."
Introducing a nickel sulphate product could be compelling at that point.
