Imo it seems that many (most?) people still do not have a decent understanding of the so-called "hassles", "anxiety" and costs associated with EVs.
Most people do NOT often drive long distances, and when they do, it is VERY rarely.
It's all about perspective, imo, which most people seem not to care for these days!!
So yeah, you have to plug in your car a couple of times per week while it's in the garage overnight.... big deal.
If there was $50 note hanging on the garage door every Monday morning, do you think people would see this "chore" of plugging in their car as suddenly not so much of a "hassle"...?
Well, that's basically what most people will save per week on petrol, so in effect they are popping that $50 into their pocket each week. Perspective.
Now, when there is that occasional loooong trip, what's the big deal about having to do some minor planning to ensure a top-up when required...? The cars/apps effectively tell you where and when you should stop. It couldn't really be much simpler. Sure the current charging infrastructure is "small", but it is expanding rapidly.
Also, in the context of costs wrt on-route charging, some people don't really consider that based on the annual savings in fuel costs, they are effectively "earning" hundreds of dollars each time they need to stop for such a charge, considering most people will only need to do this say 5-10 times per year....? Perhaps if they looked at it this way, they wouldn't be so concerned about having to stop half way to Sydney/Melb/Bris etc for a charge, meal, p!ss, etc...?
Perspective.
Imo most people don't like to think for themselves, they'd rather be constantly led around by the nose, under the misguided belief that someone else is "looking after them", regardless of the vested interests and conflicts of those that are doing the leading.....
It's sad really.
(not directed at you sewerat, just throwing in some thoughts on the topic)
Cheers
