ASX reported that there were 1.268m new AKE shorts yesterday. That represents 0.19% of all AKE issued capital (ie towards 638m shares).
There were 5.06m AKE shares traded yesterday on the ASX & probably another 500k+ on ChiX. So 1.268m shorts is a hefty % of the days sells, certainly over 20%. Last Friday, the shorts % was probably a bit under 20%, so still quite heavy "activity".
As to how much short covering was also going on across Fri/Mon, we won't find that out for another few days until ASIC reports on the total outstanding shorts at the end of those days
