EVs are fine as cheap golf-carts to run around your local area, and fully recharge from your own solar. I'm fine with this, conceptually, and may even purchase one. One day.
For any other purpose, such as long-distance travel, load/trailer hauling, they are next to useless. Yes, a few of the expensive ones have amazing acceleration, but generally they are an extremely expensive fantasy, which no-one really wants or can afford.
These ICE ban dates will cause no end of problems, as auto manufacturers need significant lead time for new models seven years in the future...
