I'm living in a world where lithium ion and other manifestations of batteries (LFE for instance) are improving every day, and can be utilised as local energy repositries. I believe in a world where people can choose to go off-grid, without compromise.

I shudder at the thought of compulsion being forced down everyone's throat! If technology is up to snuff, people will want to adopt it, and not be forced to adopt it.

You must remember Tony Seba's PowerPoint on the disruptive technology of EVs, and one particular slide where he compares 1900 "spot the car" and 1913 "spot the horse."

That's certainly powerful imagery, but I don't recall any government anywhere banning the horse and cart...
