The Yank haters must assume that this long period of prosperity the world has enjoyed has happened because everyone got along and no one had piracy on their mind. Wanna buy a bridge? Globalisation was only possible because the sea lanes were open and safe. The sea lanes were not safe because the UN had a navy patrolling them, it was the Good 'Ole US of A that did that, they picked up the baton after the Royal Navy dropped it.
