Glug - the government has to make decisions about where the foreign aid is spent. I believe that these decisions should be made on a strategic basis not on whether they will get Australia a seat in the UN.
In saying this, I am all for "doing as much good as possible". I question the motives behind giving money to some of the countries mentioned in the newspaper article.
