I know what you mean. I run into the "brainless voters" all the time in this farming district - they have no understanding and vote blindly, and non-labor. So don't expect that a non-compulsory vote will improve your world. Until 3 years ago we had a conservative flavoured government for many years - did they consider the nuclear option? Did they even accept Global Warming.

Even if we start building nuclear power plants, I doubt it will help NTU much as there will be many competitors, some already well-established and well-connected. It's the growing world-wide need for nuclear power which will help NTU because the demand for Uranium will increase. Australia is just a drop in the bucket.
