It was Masterstrategist and cowcockie that said they don't have fridges. There are over 500,000 sheep exported each year. These are already pre purchased by large buyer groups in the middle east as part of the end to end trade. They are not offloaded into a yard and have Abdul bid for 2 sheep.

They want halal slaughtered sheep. We do that here for local consumption but at the moment we have no capacity in our abs to meet that quantity. Plus of course it becomes a commercial decision for middle east buyer groups. So much cheaper to buy a thousand live sheep and have them processed in an Iran abbatoir than buy chilled mutton flown in from Australia.

@enoggera In my younger days I also purchased "killer" hoggets from a farmer. We would kill it in his shearing shed and hang it overnight before cutting it up and putting it in a couple of engels.
