Of all people, Julia Gillard should know better that her policies in dealing with Asylum seekers are a failure. She came to this country as a 5 pounds immigrant and her family was provided by the government of the day with ample opportunities to work and give her a fantastic education as she said.
What does she have to offer to these new arrivals? Just welfare! Or a life of crime. The children of the 250 thousand refugees who came to Australia during the Lebanese civil war and the Yugoslav conflicts make up 60% of the NSW jail population; only a very small number made it into the limelight ( Didn't mean The underbelly tapes). This human tragedy is the direct result of the policies of the NSW labor party who thought if they put all those people in one area and create a monocultural enclave in south west Sydney, they'll ensure electoral superiority and provide a sanctuary for the illegal activities of some of their members. I would like to ask the prime minister what is her Agenda? where is the logic in the compassion of saving a person from Afghanistan just to let him or her rot on the dole or in an Aussie jail? There are no jobs for these unskilled workers.... All positions have been filled by the lucky indian students who got in first.
I have bad news for the labor party. Their ingenious plan is not working. They may only hold on to Canterburry _ Bankstown seats thru preferences... The election next they'll lose these seats. Was all this social engineering worthed?
The people of south west Sydney and Cabramatta, who were refugees themselves, are fed up with the policies of this government. As one told me :when he had to flee Lebanon in the late 80s, he and thousands of others had to spend 6 to 18 months in Cyprus or Turkey for their refugee application to be processed and they or they relatives here had to pay for their cost of living and not the Australian tax payer. These new refugees are Bludgers, from the day they leave their countries they go on Australian welfare. they just buy a $500 ticket to Jakarta and straight to Xmas Isl or a 3 star motel all expenses paid... That's what he said and it's bloody true. Julia has recently put the (Legistrated) boot into Ausssie dole bludgers,so why is she cuddling other bludgers?
For those who don't know. This government spent more than $5 billion in 4 years to deal with Asylum seekers. The entire cost of restructuring the hospital system only requires 4 billion and they've done nothing yet! By the time they finish saving the world from bad carbon the victorian hospital waiting list would be from here to Gundagaiiiiiii..
