Well if look into the major power stations, earing, liddel, bayswater these were all Gov built and run so the idea gov run power stations are rubbish is false. So they have been privatized and now are showing cracks in their maintenance.
Nonetheless these are aging assets that will be closed soon, Origin announcing Erraring now 2025, Liddel 2023. However we dont have appropriate replacements at the moment and if we are forced to utilise these power stations after their planned shutdowns they arnt as reliable as they were due to being old and not maintenanced properly.

Even for say Bayswater with a 2033 planned closure there is a real risk it becomes increasing unreliable as the years go on.

The dilemma is massive, no proper baseload planned, reliance on aging power stations as your baseload supply, and renewables acting as the planned new capacity that themselves arnt reliable by nature as opposed to being due to aging/bad maintenance like coal power stations.
