The story is a litany of failure by border farce and the Albanese government.

    What borders indeed.

    Some of the TXT:

    • In short: Three boats believed to be carrying asylum seekers have been intercepted travelling to Australia in just over a week.
    • Four people believed to be from Vietnam have been detained after their boat was intercepted off the coast of Broome.
    • What's next? The prime minister has refused to detail whether there will be measures to increase Border Force patrols in Tuesday's budget.

Another four suspected asylum seekers have been detained by authorities after their boat was intercepted off the coast of Broome in Western Australia last week.

The ABC has confirmed the group is believed to be from Vietnam and their boat was one of three to arrive in Australian waters since early last week.

A spokesperson for Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil declined to comment in line with longstanding government policy under Operation Sovereign Borders.

On Friday, the ABC revealed 33 suspected asylum seekers were discovered on Christmas Island after their boat was damaged in bad weather.

That group was initially held on Christmas Island by the Australian Border Force (ABF) before being transferred to another facility, believed to be Nauru.

The group of four is also expected to be transferred to Nauru, however the ABC was not able to confirm their current location.

Another boat carrying five men believed to be from Senegal was found early last week crossing illegally into Australia on a small dinghy in Far North Queensland.

On Saturday, Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham said the recent boat arrivals were a mark against the federal government.

"This is another sign that the Albanese government has no control of Australia's borders," Senator Birmingham said.
