The Bill Shorten leadership period marks the transition from Beasley style Labor to Green style Labor.

As more and more gen v enter the voting age (and boomers+ die out) there is a battle between Labor and the Greens to harvest them.

That explains the "me too-ism" of Bill.

The STEM policy is aimed to attract STEM grads. It's all about votes.

Same with his Aboriginal plans which could lead to a separate state or country. It's all about getting votes away from the Greens.
