The world is a lot more technical now than it used to be tully7.
Being a tradesman today, for example an auto-electrician, requires a higher level of mathematical and computer skills than is taught at grade ten level although one of my sons has just ended grade 10 with a TAFE Cert 2 in digital technologies. He will study that subject further in grades 11 and 12 though.
Most employers require successful completion of grade 12 before they will take on anyone for further training such as an apprenticeship.
