    Consolidations, when the current SP is at microscopic levels, more than likely result in the destruction of current shareholder value and secondly they set the company up for a takeover as the disgruntled shareholders realise what has happened to their holdings and have no choice but to sell off/gift their measly holdings en masse to the predator.

    In recent times the medical instrument company Axon Instruments comes to mind.
