If my memory isn't betraying me, they recently talked about the possibility of announcing dividends (or at least looking into dividends) at the end of this quarter, presumably good chances to happen some time in 2025. The accounts are too complex for me to understand the accessible historic tax losses so I can only take management's word unfortunately

I agree the discount has historically been due to worries over capital return, and wariness of APAC (Tanami Gold especially, even if the sum was immaterial and outcome was okay). A lot of the former concerns should be allayed now - buyback in place, dividends mentioned, Ringrose/Rentals/1SN/Greentech all on the table as options depending on what makes the most sense or is the most achievable, and I do basically trust management (based on how slow and conservative they've been) not to blow the cash pile on something stupid in a fit of excitement. Seems they like keeping alt options open to drive a harder bargain, IIRC the 1SN deal we got a good discount for example.

in short, yeah I'm also looking forward to a day in the hopefully near future where they announce a dividend and it's a huge catalyst upwards, especially since at least based on vibes I don't really see much MLX discussion that's hopeful around this - mostly tin supply side macro, or greentech takeover buzz, almost feels embarrassing to say you think they'll pay dividends soon. so could be a nice shock
