Many reasons
negative market sentiment
falling base metal prices
high inventories
But the way I see it and its only a guess,the main reasons being,
Chinese govt statement the other day about banks curbing lending,also the Henry tax review re another tax on producers although if implemented by the Rudd Govt,would not help the party at the next election.
Anyway after such a big run up in the indices over last 10 months, the markets were near certs to have a correction.
Next question will be how far will the market go down.
