    Looking at the performance of the US retail ETF, I'd say the sector is ripe for BNPL take-up.

    You can also see the quantum of margin even the big name retailers are willing to give up to get more customers. Rakuten in the US (Australia's Shopback equivalent) gives customers cashback for shopping at retailers through its site. In return, the retailers pay for this cashback plus a little extra for Rakuten.

    Rakuten gets 61 million visits per month and is growing fast.

    However note that the number of sites it refers in and out is actually lower than Afterpay's.

    Klarna also refers out to only half the number of merchants Afterpay does, and this is global.
