Well this might drive Google to natively link up Afterpay with Google Pay given their alliance to compete with Apple Pay. I'd be very satisfied at that outcome. I'm actually not too worried about this and I'd like to think that the Afterpay Money initiative will add more value to users than the Apple Pay walled feature and out flank their NFC contactless function.
