1. Purchase size of Afterpay is low, about $140 off the top of my head. A lot easier to budget to repay a smaller amount than the higher purchase made with ZipMoney and ZipPay
2. Product simplicity of Afterpay is 4 equal payments of X over 4 fortnights, which combined with the above makes it easy to budget for.
3. There is a lot you can gather from the metadata of the user - like what device they are on, where they are, etc. Combined with the info the customer provides, plus their purchase history (if they are not new), and the fact they have 4 million transactions under their belt you can glean quite a bit of information.
4. Most APT customers pay with debit cards, so it's their own money they are playing with and they are used to budgeting with it.
ZML have a different product which has higher costs (i.e. thermomix, koala mattresses) and only cross over in a few stores (like Adairs). Impulse buying a dress is a little different than a thermomix!
