A few years ago I tracked Stock Doctor, Montgomery, Pattersons and Eureka... what I found is 5 years later the watchlists I set up for each are as follows [passive investing in the Co's they suggested as good investments]
*Pattersons ... negative 50%
*Eureka .... negative 17%
*Stock Doctor... positive 88%
*Montgomery .. positive 103%
fwiw.... personally I don't subscribe to any newsletters and I make my own decisions. However, if you want to understand how to go about valuing a company someone like Roger Montgomery is a good starting point. I think you can glean very useful understanding just by reading the free articles posted on his website....
