Unfortunately, Australia is heading down the same path, even faster now with the new Labor Government. This is the problem when politicians and academics determine policy that should be determined by industry and technical experts. We are putting our future industrial capacity and living standards at risk in pursuit of aggressive targets that will have negligible impact on overall global emissions, but a significant impact on the cost and reliability of our power supplies. Now that we have closed, demolished, or committed to close, numerous coal and gas-fired power stations around the country - there is no money or time to rebuild such infrastructure when the solar, wind, and battery experiment fails. IMHO of course!
