its about large-scale generators being retired - due to old age ........
the large retailers - have invested in "peaking generation" to try and manage price risk.......
there hasn't been any investment in large-scale base-load for about 10years + ........
there are a whole bunch of things that haven't been addressed by policy .....
carbon pricing / energy security / demand growth / interconnections / etc etc etc ......
the net result of all this inaction is the domestic consumer will pay higher prices .......
they will also experience interrupted supply - particularly if we get any hot wheather events in the forthcoming summer on the eastern seaboard ......
the pollies will play the blame-game - however, if you go throu the AEMO reports - this has been "known" for abt 5yrs++......
it is sad that Oz has come to this point!
