I used it just as example of other possible theories as the pathogensis of Alzheimers is still not fully understood. What could be iteresting in our case is this study that was looking at how the mTOR signalling pathways may be affected in AD and this is where Monepantel could come into play. I do think, given the different suspected causes of AD , the neuroinflammation, mTOR pathway disregulation, amyloid beta production, the effect of diet esp saturated fatty acids/Western type high fat/high sugar diet, NAFLD ( non- alcoholic fatty liver diesease ) etc- could be viruses as well as someone suggested, AD is a multi factorial disease and therefore maybe multiple drugs will be required to treat it, to reduce amyloid production, to dissolve existing plaque in the brain, to reduce neuroinflammation,to downregulate the mTOR patheways , to reduce the neuronal death etc . Insulin resistance is common with NAFLD and it's well known that diabetes increases your chances of AD mutifold due to multiple different factors. So agree , mTOR down regulation would be beneficial. I am not a researcher myself, but work closely with researchers as a vet, so I might have a quick chat to them about this when I see them, it would be an interesting path to follow.
