The 3.02 figure is known as the "density factor".
From memory, its for every cubic metre of material equals approx 3 tonne of iron ore tonnage. In this case, 1 cubic metre = 3.02 tonne, think thats what newmember means.
This is used to calculate the tonnage of ore bodies/stockpiles, etc.
