I fail to see what difference the number of shares on issue has to do with the final return to shareholders.
If we have 1,500,000,000 shares or 1,500,000 makes no difference to what the share holders would end up with in their pockets.
The amount of the total dividend paid out would be divided by either amount of shares issued whether that be 1.5 billion or 150 million so if you had 100,000 consolidated shares or 1,000,000 unconsolidated shares you would still get the same dollar amount.
