What you said and do is in opposition is different from what you do in power, when you in opposition you can say that the heck you want and make outrageous claimed to get some support
but when you in position of importance you act for the good of the country and your people.
You make sure you don't damage future investment, people have jobs and income and lift their standard of living etc....
