Fuziah can't do whatever she wants. Why? The review committee is not an executive committee in that they make decisions on behalf of the Minister. They can recommend, as Yeo puts it how she wants to run her ministry, she will just be putting many committees under her to help provide consultation to her. This is also the only time that Fuziah has to prove to the world if she is 'fair and objective'. In case she doesn't know, she is being watched! She seems to be a very ambitious woman who wanted to go higher places. She was the one who was loud enough to tell the world that she would offer her seat to Anwar so Anwar could be elected to Parliament, showing the "great" sacrifice that she was willing to make. Of course, Anwar didn't take her offer.
She needs to be able to now show that she has the ability to balance the need for Malaysia's development and help set up industries and keep people employed, whilst not showing a public image of Malaysia prioritizing development over environment. She needs to be able to show that she is not biased (and her public bias against Lynas is going to make her recommendation more politically sensitive in that anything that she says against Lynas will be judged by the media against her past). She needs to rise up to show that she's a true leader, not one that can be swayed by her own past bias or other people.
I am sure Lynas is trying hard to reach out to the right people to ensure that this is a fair process and review and right people have been involved. I do trust that the management who has survived so much bad publicity and fought through the courts in the past is able to deliver (once again!) an outcome that is satisfying to all stakeholders.
If anything that shareholders would like to do, feel free to lobby Japan or Mahathir or Mahathir's wife or Yeo Bee Yin or anyone that you think could help raise the profile of this review so that it gets the required media attention on its process and independence.
