Amaysim could see takeover offer from SingTel - report

Singapore-based telecommunications business SingTel [SGX:Z74] is thought to be considering a takeover offer for Amaysim [ASX:AYS], the Australian mobile resale business, the Australian Financial Review reported.

According to the unsourced report in the paper's Street Talk column, SingTel owns Optus, the Australian telecommunications group, which is Amaysim’s wholesale provider. The item noted that buying Amaysim would provide Optus with additional earnings and a larger subscriber base.

The item noted that an Optus spokesperson declined to comment on the speculation.
