I think the difference was due to one is referring to the actual profit made and the other to the profit before one-off cost applied. I think profit before one-off cost applied should be more relevant to the performance of the company, hence bears more weight on the share price.
the title profit plunged by xx% is just a selling gamick to lift news paper sale. that's how I read it anyway.
the share price has largely recovered today in a flat market suggest that more and more people are reading the underlying message rather than the sensational title.
myer is paying an interim divident of 10.5c (or 15c counting the franking credit), which is 4.3% based on share price of 3.50. with the inclusion in the asx 100 index next friday, there are going to be a few buyers wanting the stock over the coming days.
