Northern Star today lost out to SAR in their bid too acquire 50% of the Kalgoorlie Super PIT from Barrick. I think this is a positive outcome for TAM shareholders as NST will now potentially focus on their prime Tanami exploration / development area which they have acknowledged has "high discovery potential" and "large resource upside". NST have a strict investment discipline and I think they may believe that developing Tanami could potentially add significant reserves at a fraction of the $750 million price paid by SAR.
As usual, after this announcement, all we see is the usual price suppression to negate any buying interest.
