Where have you been? The speccy market is definitely not up - forget the ASX index, the DOW, etc. The speccy market is sideways and down - few greens in a sea of red.
When are ppl going to wake up that the ASX Index (and the DJIA) are not true measures of their respective economies - they are measures for the economists! The chart followers, the mathematicians, the prognosticators!
These indices regularly signal doom and gloom because BHP is down (from a dizzing height by a few %) or GM (who the F wants a CRV that gobbles a gallon every few miles?).
Well, guess thats enough said...
