i do understand but it is my opinion academics are over complicating the issue just like children who ask their parents if we were both drowning and you could only save one of us which one would you save. A good parent ignores the question and simply states I would save you both now go to bed.

All a self driving car needs to know is that it should not run into any solid object and its prime objective will be to avoid any solid object. It does not need this academic discussion. Just don't hit anything. Simple job done.

It is impossible to program every scenario that might arise so keep it simple. If they had kept it simple a woman pushing a bike would still be alive. She was a solid object as was her bike.
